Te Kūiti witnessed a harrowing incident as an ANZ bank branch fell victim to an armed robbery. Two individuals, clad in black and armed, demanded cash from bank tellers before fleeing on a motorbike.

Though no injuries were reported, a gunshot was heard during the robbery, and a nearby supermarket worker was shot at while confronting the culprits.
