Applying for a bank account at ANZ Bank is very simple. The process can be carried out personally online or with the help of ANZ representatives at any of the banks many branches. This article will provide you with all the information you will need for the application process.

Customers can apply for their ANZ bank accounts online or in person at any of our registered branches.

For online applicants, here are our lists of requirements for all applicants:

ONLINE APPLICANTS:

  • Individuals must be 15 years or older.
  • A valid Australian residential address is required.
  • Australian passport
  • Australian driver’s license
  • International passport

For the ANZ Access Advantage, ANZ Online Saver, or ANZ Progress Saver accounts, the following documentation is needed:

Existing Customers (Choose One):

  • Australian passport (current or expired within the last two years)
  • Australian driver’s license
  • International passport

New Customers (Provide Any Two):

  • Australian passport (current or expired within the last two years)
  • Australian Visa in a foreign passport
  • Australian driver’s license
  • Australian Medicare card

IN-BRANCH APPLICANTS:

New customers will need to provide either one form of Primary ID or two Secondary IDs. 

Examples of Primary ID

  • Australian photographic driver’s licence or learner’s permit
  • Australian Passport (current, or one that has expired within the past two years)
  • Foreign passport 
  • Australian or Foreign citizenship certificate
  • Australian state/territory government issued Proof of Age card
  • Government issued National Identification card

Examples of Secondary ID

  • Birth certificate (can be issued by an Australian State or Territory, or Foreign Government)
  • Australian or Foreign citizenship certificate
  • Australian Medicare card
  • Australian School attendance letter issued by principal to person under 18, recording residential address and period of attendance (less than 3 months old)
  • Australian Taxation Office (ATO) assessment notice (less than 12 months old) with name and address
